French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Monday that an Israeli attack on Iran would not be in Israel's interests. Speaking to French media, Fabius said that while he was sharply opposed to Iran's nuclear weapons development program, he believed that an attack on Iran would allow Tehran to portray itself as a victim, giving it carte blanche to continue with its program and attack Israel.
Fabius said that sanctions should be tightened against Iran, and that negotiations to convince Iran to halt or limit its program should continue.
