199 Illegals Enter Israel in August

The Population Registry said Monday that 199 illegal aliens had entered Israel in August. That number is significantly lower than the total for August of 2011, when some 2,000 illegals entered the country. Officials attributed the sharply lower number to better enforcement, the rapid progress being made on the Sinai security fence, and aggressive arrest and detention policies currently in place.

Last week, Interior Minister Eli Yishai said that by the end of this year, the vast majority of illegal aliens will have been removed from Israeli cities.
