A corporation owned by Defense Minister Ehud Barak – called, appropriately enough, Ehud Barak Ltd. - is planning to break itself up, with the various businesses in the corporation spun off to investors. A report in Ha'aretz over the weekend said that the breakup would occur by the middle of September. Any organization or individual that has business with the corporation needs to complete it by then, the report said.
The reason for the breakup is apparently a recommendation by the State Comptroller's Office that Barak disband the business, which could constitute a conflict of interest with his government work. The business daily Calcalist reported earlier this year that Barak had decided in principle to disband the corporation, which includes two public relations firms controlled by him and his wife.
