Arab Handyman Charged With Poisoning Ra'anana Family

An Arab from the village of Beit Furik, in an area controlled by the Palestinian Authority, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, after poisoning food in the home of a Ra'anana family last year. Adnan Othman Nas'ara, 46, was working as a handyman in the home of the family in October 2011, and officials say that he used a key the family had given him to get access to their apartment in order to make repairs. Once inside, the Arab poisoned food in the family's refrigerator. One family member was hospitalized for an extended period because of the poison, while several others were sick for a number of days, officials said.

Two other Arabs were arrested for aiding Nas'ara in the poisoning. Police said that the Arab was acting from nationalistic motives, telling investigators that he did it because he “hated Jews.” In an interview on Israel Radio, a family member said that he had not hired the Arab, but that he was employed by building management. "I am a victim of terror, like many others," he said.
