In an editorial over the weekend, the Wall Street Journal called on U.S. President Barack H. Obama to “publicly disavow” comments by Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey that he would not want to be a part of any Israeli attack on Iran. Calling Dempsey's comments “counterproductive and oddly timed,” the paper said that “since coming to office, Obama Administration policy toward Israel has alternated between animus and incompetence. We don't know what motivated Gen. Dempsey's outburst, but a President who really had Israel's back would publicly contradict it.”
