A spokesperson for Egyptian President Mohammed Morsy said that the subject of renewal of diplomatic relations did not come up during Morsy's discussions with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinajad. The two met on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement nations meeting in Tehran last week.
The spokesperson told Egyptian media that the two discussed regional issues, especially Syria. During his speech at the meeting, Morsy slammed countries supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Assad's primary supporter is Iran.
