Chani Luz, one of the more than 300,000 Jews who live in Judea and Samaria (Shomron), said, Friday, that the region does not have bus service on which it can depend. Interviewed by Arutz Sheva's Hebrew service, she said, "Egged does not provide service at even a basic level," citing the company for not sticking to its schedules and not letting people on board because of regulations that prohibit standing in armored buses. Lack of space is exacerbated on Saturday nights, when families are returning home from Shabbat visits, and Sundays, when soldiers return to base.
Luz wrote to Transportation and Road Safety Minister Yisrael Katz about the problems, which include the condition of the buses. Often, drivers have been forced to operate without air conditioning because of its drain on engines. Arutz Sheva is awaiting a response from Egged.
