The Chief Rabbinate's national unit for enforcing laws against fraud in kashrut issued a warning Thursday against the NEXT energy drink, which is made in Austria and imported by a company in Samarian Palestinia Authority-assigned city of Shechem. The unit's periodic report on violations notes that the drink carries no sign of support from a recognized rabbinical body, and called on operators of kosher retailers to remove it from their shelves, to return it and report the situation to the Chief Rabbinate.
The unit's update also warned against establishments carrying kashrut certification of small, local religious courts without accompanying certification of the Chief Rabbinate. A few months ago, the unit's manager, Rabbi Rafi Yochai told Arutz Sheva that the growing phenomenon was resulting in kashrut violations instead of more stringent supervision.
