NIS 3 Million Freed for Jerusalem Religious Facilities

The Jerusalem municipality's budget for synagogues and ritual baths got a three-million-shekel boost, Thursday, when the Finance Ministry transferred money that was promised two years ago as part of a six-million-shekel package, but were held up by bureaucracy.

The funds were freed when Chairman Moshe Gafni of the Knesset Finance Committee intervened with senior members of the Treasury, in response to a complaint by Yitzchak Hanau, the city's administrative manager for religious buildings, about the bureaucratic backlog.
