UN Investigator Criticizes Corrie Ruling

Richard Falk, the Special Rapporteur for the United Nations Human Rights Council regarding Israel's activities in Judea, Samaria (Shomron) and Gaza, criticized, Thursday, the Haifa District Court's decision, earlier in the week, rejecting a suit by the family of pro-Arab activist Rachel Corrie, who was struck by an Israel Defense Forces bulldozer while protesting the destruction of Arab houses in Gaza.

Falk, who helped the family in its various suits against Israel, said, in a statement issued by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, "The judge's decision represents a defea for justice and accountability, and a victory for impunity for the Israeli military."
