Morsi: Moral Obligation to Help Syrians Against Assad

Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi said, Thursday, that there was an "ethical obligation" to support the Syrian people against "the oppressive regime" in Damascus.

Speaking at the conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran, Morsi said, "Our solidarity with the Syrian people's struggle against an oppressive regime, which has lost its legitimacy, is an ethical obligation as much as it is a political and strategic necessity." In response, the Syrian delegation left the hall.
