Tamir Hajaj, who had been on a 32-day hunger strike in protest of what he termed the government’s social injustice, announced on Wednesday that he would end the hunger strike due to his failing health.
“In recent days my health deteriorated to the point of mortal danger,” Hajaj said, “so I decided to stop the hunger strike after I collapsed and was taken in an ambulance to the hospital. It was my third breakdown during the strike and I realized that I a have responsibility to my daughters, my family, my friends and the struggle itself – so I have to end it.”
Hajaj said that the Netanyahu “would be more comfortable if I died than continue the social struggle” but stressed that he intends to live.
