Outraged parents stormed on Monday the office of the mayor of the city of Elad, claiming that their daughters had nowhere to study as the school year began. It turned out that due to a shortage of classrooms in Elad, 240 female students who were supposed to start first grade were unable to begin their school year. The reason is that the portable buildings which will house the girls’ classrooms have not yet arrived.
Mayor Yitzhak Idan explained to the demonstrators that the portables are not scheduled to arrive before Monday, but promised to find an alternative school for the girls on Tuesday.
