The Chief of Staff of the Iranian army, Hassan Fairuz-Abdi, said that he would sue the United States for placing him on a lost of individuals to be targeted by sanctions by the U.S. The Iranian news agency Fars quoted the general as saying that he had “dedicated his life to helping Iran and humanity,” and that the U.S. would “pay for this unwise decision.”
The U.S. placed the general on the list in 2011, saying that he was involved in human rights violation.
