Ministry Sets Criteria for Reality Show Contestants

The Health Ministry has drawn up guidelines for those who wish to participate in TV reality shows, some of which require participants to put themselves in danger of injury, or present other dangers. In particular, the Ministry is concerned with the psychological problems evidenced by participants in Channel 10's “Big Brother” program.

The guidelines, which producers of the shows will be obliged to follow, require them to ensure that those who are accepted for the programs can be shown to be able to withstand the physical and psychological pressure involved in participating, and a program to deal with physical or mental health problems that result from participation.
