On a tour of schools in Petach Tikvah, Science Minister and Bayit Yehudi chairman Daniel Hershkowitz said that he believed that the costs of education in religious high schools would come down. Many parents have complained about what they consider the excessive costs of yeshiva high schools and ulpana schools, where tuition can reach as much as NIS 1,500 ($375) per month, very high by Israeli standards.

Hershkowitz said that he had taken the issue up with many government officials, and that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu iad promised him that he would come up with a plan to reduce education costs. “I am very optimistic that we will be able to gradually reduce the costs,” Hershkowitz said on the tour.
