The "Functional Differential Equations and Applications 2012" conference is scheduled to open, Monday, and run for five days at the Ariel University Center of Samaria. Twenty-five senior professors in the field are scheduled to attend, including students of Professor Nikolai V. Azbelev, in whose memory the conference is dedicated. Fifty lectures are scheduled. At the end of the conference, the third Israel-Czech Republic Workshop in the field will take place. The field has developed at a rapid pace in recent years, thanks to applications in biology, controls, medicine and technology, among other things.
Referring to claims by other Israeli universities about an academic boycott over the school's location in Samaria should it receive university status, Ariel Rector Michael Zinigrad said, "We heard no small amount of arguments, lately, about an academic boycott against us, and here's the proof to the contrary." He continued, "The high response of scientists to participate in the conference raises the University Center once again as a research institute for all intents and purposes, which is received by and leads the global scientific community."
