Modest gains were recorded at the beginning of trading on Monday morning at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. About 10 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 979.84, up .15 percent. The same percentage gain meant a 988.50 posting for the TA 100, including an advance of .02 percent to 1,112.46 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the gainers were the insurance stocks, which rose 1.43 percent to 738.53 as the financial institutions stood at 755.28, up .32 percent, tempered by a .35-percent decline to 844.75 by the bank index. Most of the technology issues rose an average of .44 percent to 350.28, while the biomed stocks stood at 718.23, up .33 percent. The real-estate index was flat at 233.76. Following Sunday's four percent gain, the communications and media issues declined .48 percent to 428.02, while the oil and natural gas stocks stood at 909.73, down .67 percent.
