The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange finished Sunday's first day of the trading week with modest gains in mixed trading. The TA Composite Index closed at 978.41, up .23 percent, while the TA 100 rose a quarter of a percent to 986.99, including a .26-percent advance to 1,112.27 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the gainers were the communications and media stocks, which jumped 4.04 percent to 430.09, followed by the biomed index, which finished the day at 715.89, up .48 percent, while the rest of the technology issues advanced an average of four tenths of a percent to 348.74. The insurance stocks closed at 728.10, up .42 percent, as the financial institutions declined .62 percent to 752.88, including a three-quarters of a percent drop by the bank index. The real-estate issues edged up a percent to 233.76, while the oil and natural gas stocks fell 1.36 percent to 915.89.
