Speaking at Sunday's cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu praised Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, after he died over the weekend. “With this act, Armstrong symbolized the spirit of exploration and curiosity of the human race, the desire of man to push the limits and understand the secrets of creation, and to understand the endlessness of the universe and time, and the the importance of our existence in this endlessness.
“I do not believe that many people had the opportunity to take such a far-reaching step as Armstrong did,” Netanyahu said. “Some were able to discover new continents or cross new oceans. But even so, this was the first time that humanity stepped on the soil of another world. This is a great step forward that will forever be remembered in the annals of humanity,” he added.
