After a California jury ruled on Friday that Samsung had indeed copied key design elements from Apple for its smartphones and tablets, Apple officials said they would request an injunction against further sales of Samsung products in the U.S. The jury awarded Apple more than $1 billion in damages, a sum that is likely to badly hamper operations at Samsung.
If the injunction is granted, Samsung will not only have to remove some physical phones from the market, but portions of the Android operating system may be affected as well, limiting the usability of phones already in use.
