Senior Hizbullah commander Ziyad Al-Kashash has been named by External Activities Unit Commander Talal Chamiya to head the Lebanese Shi'ite terror organization's activities in the Sinai Peninsula, according to a Thursday report by the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Siasah. Al-Kashash is considered one of Hizbullah's best commanders, with international experience, especially in Africa. His mission is to organize intensive activity by Hizbullah throughout Egypt in general, and in Sinai in particular, given Egypt's security chaos.
Egyptian efforts are targeted at freezing Al-Kashash's anti-Israel efforts in the Sinai and secretly bringing them just outside Gaza. There are reports that terror cells have stopped their Sinai activities and moved into Gaza. Sources cited by the newspaper did not rule out the possibility that the activity of Hizbullah terror cells against Israeli targets was intended to increase tensions between Israel and the regime of new Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.
