Syrian Vice President Farouk Ash-Shara is being held under house arrest in the Damascus area, according to Yasser Aboud, Southern District commander of forces opposed to the regime of President Bashar Al-Assad.

Interviewed by Sky News' Arabic service, Aboud added that security forces of the Damascus regime are surrounding Ash-Shara's residence and preventing him from leaving.
