A new book has been released that portrays Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook through the eyes of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv. Rabbi Kook founded the Merkaz Harav yeshiva and is seen as one of those who molded the religious-Zionist approach to Torah Judaism, while Rabbi Elyashiv was, until his recent passing, the leading expert in Jewish law in the Litvish stream of the hareidi-religious world, and was widely respected in other steams as well.
The book shows that despite the major philosophical differences between the communities they led, Rabbi Elyashiv had great respect for Rabbi Kook. The book will be sold during the annual ascent to Rabbi Kook’s grave on the third day of the Hebrew month of Elul.
