Woman Killed in Clashes in Tripoli, Lebanon

A 20-year-old woman was killed and 16 people were wounded, Monday evening, in clashes between Sunni Muslims and the Alawite Muslim minority in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli. Armed forces of the two sides fired machine guns and launched anti-tank shells at each other.

Several people have been killed or wounded in fighting between the two factions in recent months. Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad is an Alawite Muslim and the clashes are along the lines of the civil war being fought in Lebanon's eastern neighbor.
