French President François Hollande said on Monday that there cannot be a political solution to the crisis in Syria unless President Bashar Al-Assad leaves power.

Hollande made the remarks during a meeting with the new UN envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi. Hollande promised Brahimi that France would help him in his mission.
