Police on Monday announced that they had established that Shoshan Barabi, a convicted felon and known associate of reputed Netanya crime families, was definitely the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed three women killed in a weekend hit-and-run incident in Netanya. The three victims – Mother Svetlana Ygodiev, daughter Shoshana, and family friend Alexandra Rubinov – were buried Sunday.
Based on the DNA evidence, police said that it was likely that Barabi was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Besides DNA evidence, police said they had circumstantial evidence connecting Barabi with the incident. Berbi is currently in hiding, and the subject of a nationwide manhunt in Israel, which has extended to countries abroad, via Interpol.
