Channel 10 Employees Ask Histadrut to Declare Dispute

The workers' committee at Channel 10 television applied to the Histadrut Labor Federation, Monday, to declare a labor dispute after it became apparent that the board of directors intends to dismiss 150 workers as a way of dealing with a financial crisis brought on by a forfeiture of funds. Ahead of tomorrow's emergency board meeting, the workers plan to hold their own emergency meeting, during which they will detail the steps they intend to take.

Workers' committee members Matan Chodorov and Elinor Davidov issued a statement which said, "There will be no negotiations on such a mass dismissal of workers. As far as we are concerned, this is a struggle of existing or ceasing to exist. We will not be a selector who is going to stand at the doorway and conduct meetings on the identity of the employees who are dismissed." The committee also made it clear that it will not lend a hand to closing down current affairs programs, primarily "Hamakor" (the source).
