Rebels: UN Envoy Won't Recognize Size of Syrian Tragedy

The Syrian National Council, the central group opposing President Bashar Al-Assad, demanded an apology and a retraction, Sunday, from United Nations Envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, after he said it was too early to determine if Assad must go.

A statement by the council said, "Lakhdar Brahimi is demonstrating contempt for the blood of the Syrian people and their right to self-determination. Whoever gives a criminal regime an opportunity to kill another tens of thousands of people and destroy what is left of Syria does not want to know the extent of the disaster."
