The head of the civilian-national service volunteer system, Sar-Shalom Jerbi, met Thursday with the commander of the Meitav IDF recruitment center system, Colonel Gil Ben-Shaul. The two discussed their situation following the expiration of the Tal Law, which allowed full-time Torah students to postpone IDF service.
The Tal Law was used by several thousands of young men, most of them from the hareidi-religious community. Its expiration has led to confusion as to how the recruitment system is supposed to deal with thousands of men who do not plan to enlist.
