Report: Mubarak Amused by Morsi Firings

Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has reportedly been suffering depression since being ousted from power and jailed to await trial. However, the former president had cause to laugh this week, Heder Hadashot reports, quoting Al-Wafd.

Mubarak was reportedly highly amused when his son Gamal visited him and told him that Egypt’s new president, Mohammed Morsi, had fired top military brass, including Defense Minister Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, who had led the country after Mubarak’s ouster.

“Tantawi doesn’t know the Brothers very well,” Mubarak chuckled, referring to the Muslim Brotherhood, Morsi’s party. Gamal reportedly predicted that Tantawi, too, will soon find himself in prison.
