Army Ceremony Held at Cave of Machpelach in Hebron

A changing-of-the-guard ceremony was held in Hebron at the Cave of Machpelach on Wednesday. Colonel Avi Balut took over as Judea Brigade Commander. In 2009 he was lightly wounded in the fire fight with Gaza terrorists.

Colonel Guy Hazut handed over the command. He reminisced about various military operations as well as the day his foreign-born grandmother visited the cave for the first time. "This place moves me every time. From this place Israel draws its moral force and historical link," he stated.
The Cave of Machpelach is the ancient burial site of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Leah and other Jewish Patriarchs and Matriarchs.
