New Arab Knesset Member to Take Office Thursday

On Thursday Ahmed Dabah of the Kadima party will be officially installed as a member of Knesset. He will replace Avi Dichter who has left following his appointment as Minister of the Home Front. Dabah was the mayor of Deir-el-Assad, an Israeli community populated mostly by Arab-Muslims. He is the father of 9 children and owns a chain of supermarkets and slaughterhouses. He was previously affiliated with Likud party. Dabah helped Kadima leader Shaul Mofaz win the primaries by drumming up support amongst Arab voters.
