An anniversary for the 40th yarzheit (anniversary of the passing) of Rabbi David Cohen will take place Thursday in Jerusalem. Rabbi Cohen was known as the Nazirite for his adherance to the laws of the nazir. Like Samson of the Bible, Rabbi Cohen did not cut his hair or drink wine. A ceremony will take place at Yeshivat Merkaz HaRav, the yeshiva of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook, Israel's first chief rabbi. Rabbi Cohen taught there as well and was considered Rabbi Kook's top student. The nazir's children, students and Members of Knesset will speak about his legacy.
