Syrian President Bashar Assad controls just 30 percent of the country, former Syrian Prime Minister Riad Hijab said Tuesday. Hijab made his first public appearance since defecting and fleeing to Jordan.

Hijab said Assad’s government is falling apart, and called on other senior officials to join him in defecting.
