Former IDF Head of Operations Yisrael Ziv said over the weekend that an Israeli attack on Iran could drag Israel into a regional war – one that Israel would have a difficult time surviving without U.S. or European help. Ziv said that the results of such a war, both in the short and long terms, would be in favor of Iran.

In an interview on Israel Radio, Ziv said that the media was being controlled by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who were leading the call for an attack on Iran. He said that their stance was more reflective of their fear that Israel was weak, and not due to good leadership. Netanyahu and Barak, he said, were damaging Israel's relationship with the U.S.
