President Bashar Al-Assad of Syria named Health Minister Wael Al-Halki, Thursday to be his new prime minister.

Al-Halki succeeds Riyad Hijab, who resigned, Monday, after only two months in office, and defected to Jordan, announcing that he was joining the ranks of anti-Assad rebels.
