36 Companies Working on Beit Shemesh Fire

As of shortly before 8:00 p.m. Thursday, 36 firefighting companies were battling a blaze near the industrial area of Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem. Crews from Petach Tikva, Bnei Brak and other parts of central Israel and the southern part of the country joined the first responders from Beit Shemesh and Jerusalem firefighters who joined them when they finished bringing a fire in Even Sapir under control.

Firefighters are concerned the blaze will spread into the industrial area and the homes of Ramat Beit Shemesh. They are trying to prevent it from reaching Highway 38, which connects Ramat Beit Shemesh with the nearby community of Zecharia.
