Syrian President Bashar Assad made a television appearance Tuesday, Reuters reports. Assad was seen meeting in Damascus with the head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

The appearance, Assad’s first in two weeks, follows reports Monday that his prime minister has fled the country and joined the Free Syrian Army.
