The Knesset State Control Committee will hold a special session, Tuesday at the Prime Minister's Office, to discuss the Carmel Fire of 2010, which took 44 lives and burned thousands of dunams of forests and other property.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is scheduled to take part. At the request of the Prime Minister's Office, the media will only be allowed to stay for the opening statements, out of concern that members of bereaved families or other participants may attempt a provocation. Some of the bereaved families say that if the media has to leave, they will leave too. Committee Chairman Uri Ariel hinted that he was not satisfied with the arrangement, but conceded that the Prime Minister's Office was the host of the meeting.
