President Shim'on Peres opened his working visit in Greece, Monday, by expressing condolences to Egypt over the soldiers it lost, Sunday evening, in an attack by Islamist terrorists near the Gaza border city of Rafah. Following a meeting with Greek President Karolos Papoulias, Peres said, "Terrorism hurts everybody indiscriminately." After citing Israeli personnel from preventing an attack on the Israeli side of the Sinai border, he said, "I wish to express here my sincere condolences to the Egyptian people on the unnecessary loss of human life. Both sides share an interest in peace on the common border and Israel will continue to ensure the quiet in the south of the country."
Egyptian media reported, Monday, that authorities have declared three days of mourning for the soldiers.
