Member of Knesset Danny Danon (Likud) explained, Sunday, why support must come from within the ranks of the Likud party for a bill to declare Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria (Shomron) if the Palestinian Authority procedes with another statehood bid. Interviewed by Arutz Sheva's Hebrew service, the World Likud leader stressed that Israel should declare sovereignty even without PA steps, adding, "The prime minister can do it, but he is hearing other things. He hears [Defense Minister Ehud] Barak sitting next to his ear and saying other things, so we are now forming support within the Likud."
Danon asked, "Why should we always respond to Palestinian initiatives and beg for mercy? It must be clearly said that if they want to lead a unilateral move, we will respond in their own language. They want to drag us to reactions, but we need to lead."
