Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange finished the week's first day of trading, Sunday, with modest to sharp gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 980.28, up four tenths of a percent, while the TA 100 rose .38 percent to 988.20, including and advance of .48 percent to 1,101.234 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just under the TA 100 advanced 1.19 percent to 358.73.
The insurance index led the gainers, jumping 2.06 percent to 724.68 as the financial institutions closed at 734.30, up half a percent, despite a quarter of a percent decline to 812.67 by the bank issues. Most of the technology stocks rose 1.66 percent to 356.33, while the biomed index finished the day at 726.38, up three tenths of a percent. The Maala organization's list of socially-responsible companies rose 1.46 percent to 690.60, while the communications and media stocks closed at 392.65, up eight tenths of a percent. The real-estate index stood at 249.83, up .51 percent, while the oil and natural gas issues advanced two tenths of a percent to 1,042.88.
