Komemiyut Backs Off Bayit Yehudi Youth War on Shas

The Komemiyut movement announced, Friday, that it was backing off an aggressive campaign launched, Thursday, by youth of the Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home-New National Religious Party) against the Sephardic-hareidi Shas party, following a move by Shas ministers to delay action related to religious Zionist yeshivas and the military until the Knesset's winter session. At the same time Komemiyut asked Shas not to act against common values and to avoid disruption of government moves.

Calling the campaign against Shas misplaced, Komemiyut Chairman Musa Cohen said,  "Even if Shas ministers did not act correctly, and indeed we have criticism of their last step, a completely negative campaign is misplaced," adding, "This is not the way of the religious Zionist public and certainly not opposite a public or party which has more in common with the religious Zionist community than it has things which divide them." He also said that such a campaign was not constructive.
