The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed out the shortened trading week, Thursday, with moderate losses in mixed trading. The TA Composite Index finished the day at 976.38, down 1.13 percent, while the TA 100 declined 1.19 percent to 984.48, including a .95 percent drop to 1,096.01 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
The communications and media stocks led the gainers, jumping 2.55 percent to 389.54, followed by the oil and natural gas index, which closed at 1,040.79, up 1.17 percent. Worst hit among the losers were most of the technology issues, which plunged 3.58 percent to 350.50, while the biomed issues finished the day at 724.23, down .56 percent. The insurance stocks slumped .86 percent to 710.02 as the financial issues closed at 730.68, down .21 percent, including a .08-percent slip to 814.73 by the bank index The real estate index finished the day at 248.56, down .14 percent.
