The official value of the shekel rose an average of .037 percent, Thursday, in mixed trading against the other featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.977, up .176, while the Euro declined by the same percentage to 4.8818 shekels.
The pound sterling was set at NIS 6.185, down .401 percent, while 100 Japanese yen rose .053 percent to 5.0824 shekels. The Canadian dollar slipped .078 percent to NIS 3.965 and its Australian counterpart was fixed at 4.1803 shekels, down .096 percent. The South African rand fell .54 percent to NIS .4787.
