An Israeli court recently ruled in favor of a plaintiff who was tired of the spam being sent to him by the Partner Communications Company. The company was ordered to compensate the complainant with a sum of 12,000 shekels.
The ruling was made in accordance with the Spam Law, which came into force in December 2008 and which states, among other things, that sending e-mail advertisements without prior consent of the recipients will be considered an offense. The law stipulates that a fine of up to 1,000 shekels per e-mail or SMS message can be imposed on the without the plaintiff having to prove that harm was caused to him.
