Deputy Minister of Education MK Menachem Eliezer Moses (United Torah Judaism) spoke Tuesday in events in Poland to mark 70 years since the destruction of the Warsaw ghetto. An estimated 370,000 Jews were sent to their deaths when the ghetto was liquidated.
MK Moses spoke of the destruction wrought by the Holocaust, “the greatest disaster to befall the Jewish people.” Thousands of communities were destroyed, he said, “A glorious culture that thrived for more than 2,000 years met its end.”
Many of the survivors reached Israel and rebuilt their lives there, he noted, proving the Biblical promises that the nation of Israel is eternal.
