The 2012 International Autism Conference is taking place in Jerusalem August 1st and August 2nd. Hundreds of experts, educators, and families will discuss the developmental disablity which causes a person to have limited social interaction. In many cases an autistic person may not talk or interact with other people at all. In some cases an autistic person may demonstrate a high level of skills at a young age such as extraordinary mathematics or musical ability or memorization. In recent years there has been an increased amount of diagnosis and a wider range of classification for what falls under the category of autism.
Institutes participating in the conference will be the Hebrew University, the Weizmann Institute, Tel Aviv University, Haifa University and Bar Ilan University. The event is organized by ICare4Autism. Keynote speakers will be Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat, the first UK Ambassador for Philanthropy Dame Stephanie Shirley, First Lady of the Republic of Panama Mrs. Marta Linares de Martinelli, Dr. Shekhar Saxena, the director of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse of the World Health Organization, Dalit Stauber, the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Education and others.
