Protest of High Food Prices in Iran

Many demonstrators took to the streets of the Iranian city of Nishabur, east of Tehran, Monday, to protest the high price of food, according to the Iranian Student's News Agency. The protesters blamed the regime of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of policy mistakes.

It is believed that the price hikes are a result of sanctions against the Islamic Republic's nuclear development program, which has led to the crash of the local currency and cuts in government subsidies to its citizens.
